| Reverse description | Central field features a plain cross with arms extending nearly to the inner border, with two six-pointed stars placed in the upper left and upper right quadrants, and a pellet in each of the lower two quadrants. A beaded or cable inner circle encloses the design, while the outer border is decorated with alternating lozenges and pellets in the same style as the obverse. The circumferential Latin legend reads IMPATOR F, a contracted reference to Emperor Frederick (II), introduced by a cross. The overall execution is typical of northern Italian episcopal coinage of the mid-thirteenth century. |
