Reverse description A cross pattée occupies the center of the design, set within an eight-lobed polylobe border, each internal point of the polylobe decorated with a single pellet. The entire motif is enclosed by a beaded circle. The surrounding legend, rendered in uncial Latin script, invokes the nominal suzerainty of the Holy Roman Emperor Conrad, King of the Romans, a traditional formula retained on Genoese coinage long after any practical imperial connection. The reverse legend concludes with the initial of the mint official responsible for the issue.
