Obverse description Central field dominated by a date palm tree with a broad, spreading crown of fronds rendered in stylised relief, the trunk flanked by two clusters of dates or fruit bunches at the base. Hebrew letters appear to either side of the trunk within the field. The design is characteristic of the overstruck Bar Kokhba bronze coinage, with the irregular flan exhibiting typical hammered workmanship of the period.
