| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a crowned shield of arms bearing the three lions passant of Denmark, set within a beaded inner circle. The shield is surmounted by a Gothic crown rendered in fine relief. A circular legend in Gothic characters runs between the inner beaded circle and the outer toothed border, reading the royal titulature of King John I. The overall execution is characteristic of late medieval Danish hammered coinage, with the design displaying slight irregularity in strike typical of the period. |
