| Additional information |
The sizin was a fractional billon piece issued specifically for Cypriot circulation under Pietro Loredano's tenure as the Venetian-appointed lieutenant of Cyprus. The island had been under Venetian control since 1489 and retained its own subsidiary coinage distinct from the Venetian mainland system. This issue dates to the final years of Venetian Cyprus — the Ottoman siege of Famagusta began in 1570, and after its fall in August 1571, Venetian coinage on the island ceased entirely.
Tziambazis #5 is a scarce catalogued variety. Surviving examples from this terminal period are underrepresented in collections outside Cyprus and Greece.
