| Obverse description | Laureate male head facing right, rendered in a Romanised Celtic style reflecting the strong Mediterranean artistic influence on late British Iron Age coinage. The hair is depicted in stylised wavy locks falling to the neck, with a laurel wreath clearly delineated across the crown. The portrait is boldly modelled in high relief for the flan size, displaying competent die-cutting typical of the Atrebatic workshop. A partial legend reading TINCOM appears in Latin characters in the right field, curving around the bust. The irregular flan is characteristic of hand-struck silver units of this period and tribe. |
