| Obverse description | Stylised Celtic head rendered in the characteristically abstract La Tène artistic tradition, shown facing right. The cranium is represented by a large crescent or lunate form — the so-called 'moon head' — with a pellet-in-annulet eye prominent in the field. Additional pellets and flowing curvilinear elements fill the surrounding field, reflecting the highly schematic treatment of human features typical of late Iron Age British coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, with no inscription or legend. The design is deeply struck within the confined planchet. |
