Obverse description The obverse presents the abbreviated royal legend CVN within a decorative wreath border, rendered in bold, irregular Celtic lettering characteristic of late Iron Age British coinage. The inscription, denoting the issuing authority Cunobelin, occupies the central field and is enclosed by a leafy or beaded wreath that frames the entire design. The die-cutting is typical of the Camulodunum mint, exhibiting a naive but confident hand. A border of raised pellets or irregular bumps surrounds the periphery of the flan, consistent with hammered production of this period.
