Obverse description Incuse brokage of the reverse design, struck from an obverse die bearing the standard Crescents type motif. Two back-to-back linear crescents are positioned between a pair of parallel horizontal lines set upon a vertical wreath pattern, with two pellets filling the void between the crescents. Perpendicular lines and rows of pellets radiate outward from the two parallel lines, creating a structured, geometric field composition characteristic of Iceni abstract Celtic coinage. The entire design is impressed in incuse relief as a consequence of the brokage minting error, wherein a previously struck coin adhered to the die and acted as a substitute die face.
