Obverse description Stylised bust of Hercules facing right, draped in a lion's skin headdress rendered in the late Celtic artistic tradition, with knotted forepaws visible at the neck. The hair is depicted in short, radiating locks arranged in a crown-like formation atop the head. The abbreviated legend CARA appears before the bust, referencing the issuing ruler Caratacus. The portrait, while influenced by classical Graeco-Roman iconography, retains a distinctly Catuvellaunian artistic character. The entire design is set within a beaded border.
