Antedios is one of the few Iceni rulers whose name appears on coinage, placing him in a small group of late Iron Age British kings whose identities survive at all. His issues belong to the final generations of Celtic coin production in East Anglia before the Roman invasion of 43 AD disrupted indigenous minting entirely. Whether he ruled independently or as a client king under early Roman influence remains unresolved — the chronology of Iceni leadership in this period is genuinely contested among specialists.
The "Mini Anted" designation reflects a recognized subdivision struck at markedly reduced weight, distinct from his fuller unit series catalogued separately in Van Arsdell.
