Hari Hara II ruled the Vijayanagara Empire at its first great peak of expansion, pushing dominion over much of the Deccan and into the far south while holding the Bahmani Sultanate in check through a combination of diplomacy and force. The tara denomination sat at the lower end of the silver coinage hierarchy, likely serving retail market transactions rather than treasury payments or tribute.
At 0.22 g, these were struck on tiny flans with considerable variation in centering — a known characteristic of the series rather than a flaw of individual specimens.
