Obverse description Left-facing crowned effigy of King George VI, engraved by Percy Metcalfe, occupies the central field. The king is depicted bare-shouldered with a detailed Imperial State Crown adorned with fleurs-de-lis, crosses pattée, and pearl arching. The circumferential legend reads GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR · in raised Latin capitals, distributed evenly around the periphery. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the facial features and crown ornamentation, consistent with the transition pattern coinage style.
