Reverse description A hippocamp depicted in profile facing right, its equine foreparts and fish-tail hindquarters rendered in the abstracted curvilinear style characteristic of late British Celtic coinage. The royal name of Verica appears divided as a legend above and below the central device. Pellets and subsidiary ornamental elements occupy the surrounding field, and the irregular flan bears the characteristic flan crack and ragged edge common to hammered minims of the Atrebatic series.
