| Reverse description | The reverse bears a two-line Nagari inscription reading 'Uttama / Cholah', identifying the issuing ruler Uttama Chola (r. 970–985 CE). The bold Nagari characters are deeply incuse-struck in high relief against a plain field, filling the coin's face in the manner typical of South Indian silver kahavanu coinage. The lettering is slightly irregular in execution, consistent with hammered production, and is contained within the natural round border of the flan. No additional devices or border ornaments are present. |
