Reverse description The civic abbreviation AΣTA is arranged in two lines within the central field, enclosed by a circular olive or laurel wreath formed of stylised leaves and berries rendered in low relief. The wreath border is boldly engraved and occupies the full extent of the flan, with individual leaves clearly articulated. The overall composition is typical of small-denomination fractional silver coinage issued by the city of Astakos in Acarnania during the late classical period.
