Obverse description A full-length armored knight stands facing right in the field, clad in plate armor with an elaborately plumed helmet. In his raised right hand he holds a sword over his shoulder, while his left hand suspends by a ribbon the crowned heraldic shield of Holland, bearing the rampant lion. The peripheral legend in Latin runs along the coin's border, separated from the central design by a beaded inner circle.
