| Obverse description | An octopus rendered in archaic Etruscan style, depicted facing with six sinuous tentacles radiating outward from a rounded, bulbous head and filling the field symmetrically. The tentacles are modeled in low relief with a fluid, naturalistic quality characteristic of Populonian coinage of this series. The type is set within a plain incuse circular border formed by the flan's edge, with no inscription or additional devices in the field. |
