| Obverse description | Facing left laureate head of Apulu (Apollo), rendered in fine Etruscan style with richly detailed curling locks of hair swept back and bound with a laurel wreath. The facial features are finely modelled with a pronounced eye, delicate lips, and a strong chin. The value mark 'X' (denoting 10 asses) appears in the field behind the head. The overall execution reflects the high artistic quality characteristic of Populonian silver coinage of the early third century BC. |
