Obverse description Right-facing bust of Emperor Valentinian I rendered in a draped and cuirassed effigy, adorned with a pearl diadem. The portrait displays the characteristic late Roman imperial style, with finely detailed paludamentum visible at the shoulder and layered body armour beneath. The encircling Latin legend is divided by the bust, reading D N VALENTINI-ANVS P F AVG. The flan is notably irregular in outline, consistent with hammered silver coinage of the period.
