| Obverse description | A recumbent ram depicted in high relief, facing left, with its fleece rendered in careful dotted or scaled texture conveying dense wool. Above the animal's back appears a Cypriot syllabic inscription in two lines reading the royal name Nikodamos. Below the ram, a second line of Cypriot syllabic script identifying the mint city of Salamis is incised across the lower field. The composition is framed by a beaded border, and the overall style reflects the archaic Cypriot artistic tradition of the mid-fifth century BC. |
