Comments

Siemens Nixdorf produced these test notes internally for calibrating and certifying their banknote processing and validation equipment — the ATM and currency-sorting machinery the company manufactured for banks across Europe. They are not currency and were never intended to enter circulation. The design intentionally mimics the physical properties of the Deutsche Mark 20 DM series closely enough to stress-test optical sensors and mechanical feed mechanisms, while remaining legally distinct from the genuine article.

Surviving examples escaped the factory through employee retention or equipment disposal. No official release or distribution ever occurred.
