| Obverse description | Sezai Ömer and Ali Rıza in Ottoman script. Star countermark. The consorsium of Sezai Ömer Madra and Ali Rıza Karagözoğlu were established in 1910s as a olive company in Ayvalik (western Turkey). They operated till 1927 as a consorsium; Madra label still exists as olive oil company. These tokens come in many varieties and they were minted in two denominations for possibly the daily workers picking up the olives from the trees in fields. |
