Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Vitellius facing right, rendered in high relief with characteristic fleshy features. The effigy displays a laurel wreath secured about the head, with paludamentum visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The bold, naturalistic portraiture is executed in the vigorous style typical of Julio-Claudian and early Flavian sestertii. The encircling legend runs from lower left to upper right around the periphery of the flan.
