Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Vitellius facing right, rendered in bold high relief typical of early Julio-Claudian-era sestertii. The portrait captures the emperor's characteristically heavy features with a thick neck and fleshy jowls, surmounted by a laurel wreath. The obverse legend encircles the bust in a continuous band along the periphery of the coin.

Reverse description Mars Victor, helmeted and clad in full military dress, strides dynamically to the left. In his extended right hand he holds a small figure of Victory, and over his left shoulder he carries a trophy; a parazonium (military short sword) is visible at his side. The legend MARS VICTOR appears in the field, with the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) prominently placed, as required for large bronze denominations of the Roman imperial coinage.
