Reverse description Vespasian, clad in military dress, stands facing left, holding a vertical spear in his left hand while extending his right hand to receive a palladium offered by Victory. Victory, draped and carrying a palm branch in her left hand, advances to the right and presents the palladium in her outstretched right hand. The scene commemorates the emperor's martial authority and divine favour. The senatorial authorisation mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the field, and the reverse legend is disposed around the periphery.
