Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate bust of Divus Vespasianus facing right, rendered with realistic portraiture characteristic of Flavian die-cutting. The effigy shows the emperor with short curly hair bound by a laurel wreath, with drapery visible at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend runs along the outer border of the field. The portrait reflects the posthumous honorific type struck under Titus to commemorate his deified father.
