Reverse description Standing figure of Pax, draped in a long chiton and himation, depicted in three-quarter view facing left at centre of the field. In her extended right hand she holds an olive branch, symbol of peace, while her raised left hand holds a caduceus — the herald's staff associated with diplomatic concord. The allegorical figure stands on a ground line, her pose graceful and classical in conception. The senatorial authorisation mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is prominently displayed in the field to either side of the figure, and the legend PAX AVGVSTI arcs around the upper periphery within a dotted border.
