| Reverse description | The personification of Providentia (Providence) stands facing left in full length, draped in a flowing stola and mantle, extending her right hand downward toward a large globe resting on the ground at her feet, while her left hand rests upon a tall vertical sceptre or rudder. The figure is rendered in the classicising style typical of Trajanic reverse iconography. The divided legend PRO AVG appears to either side of the figure in the field, and S C (Senatus Consultum) is inscribed in the lower exergual area. The outer circular legend SENATVS POPVLVSQVE ROMANVS runs along the rim, affirming senatorial authority for the issue. |
