Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, draped on the left shoulder with the paludamentum and bearing an aegis on the right shoulder, rendered in the vigorous naturalistic style characteristic of Trajanic imperial portraiture. The emperor's features display the strong brow, short cropped hair, and resolute expression associated with his official image. The encircling legend runs along the outer border of the obverse field. The flan shows the characteristic irregular edge typical of hand-struck Roman bronze coinage of the period.
