| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, depicted with strong, naturalistic portraiture characteristic of Trajanic imperial coinage. The emperor's bare neck and shoulder are visible, rendered in the high-relief style typical of the Rome mint under this reign. The surrounding field carries the full imperial titulature in Latin legend running clockwise from the lower left. The portrait conveys the idealized yet individualized likeness established by official Trajanic sculpture. |

| Reverse description | A detailed bird's-eye architectural representation of the Circus Maximus, Rome's great chariot-racing venue, rendered with remarkable topographical precision. The elongated structure is shown with its curved end (sphendone) and straight starting-gate end (carceres), with colonnaded facades flanking the central barrier (spina). An Egyptian obelisk rises prominently from the center of the spina, flanked by the conical turning posts (metae) at each end. Spectator stands with arched arcading are depicted along both long sides, conveying the grandeur of the monument. The senatorial authorization mark S C appears in the lower field, with the dedicatory legend divided across the upper portion of the reverse. |
