| Reverse description | Trajan, bare-headed and togate, stands facing left upon a decorated base set atop a dais, the base adorned with festoons and four eagles at its corners, emphasizing imperial and martial grandeur. The emperor extends a branch in his right hand and holds a vertical sceptre in his left. A winged Victory flies leftward above him, crowning him with a wreath in a composition that exalts his divine favor and martial supremacy. Flanking the emperor on either side stand two eagles and a bound captive, allusions to his conquests — most notably in Dacia and Germania. The bold senatorial legend and SC monogram frame the scene, affirming the senatorial authority behind the issue. |
