Obverse description Central field displays a corona civica (civic oak wreath) rendered in bold relief, flanked symmetrically on either side by a laurel branch. The inscription OB CIVIS SERVATOS appears within and around the wreath, referencing the honour granted to Augustus by the Senate for saving Roman citizens. The design is entirely typological with no portrait, reflecting the austere Republican-influenced iconography favoured in the early Augustan coinage reform. The wreath is depicted with densely packed oak leaves and acorns, consistent with the honorific corona awarded to Augustus in 27 BC.
