Reverse description The goddess Roma, helmeted and draped, seated left upon a throne or throne-like seat, extending her right arm forward to present a small figure of Victory standing on a globe; her left hand rests upon a long vertical spear or sceptre set behind her. The composition conveys the propagandistic message of Rome's renewal under Nerva's reign. The legend ROMA RENASCENS arcs around the upper and right field, while the senatorial authority mark S C appears in the lower exergue area, flanking the throne base.
