| Reverse description | A modius (grain measure) depicted standing upright on three short legs, shown in profile at center, filled with six ears of corn arranged symmetrically — three to the left and three to the right — with a poppy head rising between them. The modius, a symbol of Rome's grain supply and imperial beneficence, dominates the reverse field. The encircling legend commemorates Nerva's reorganization of the grain dole for the urban plebs, a notable act of his reign. The senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears prominently in the lower field, consistent with the standard practice for large bronze denominations of the period. |
