| Obverse description | Laureate head of Emperor Nerva facing right, with a short beard rendered in fine detail, the hair depicted in tight curls characteristic of Flavian-era portraiture. The bust is draped and terminates at the shoulder, presenting a mature and authoritative imperial effigy. Ribbon ties of the laurel wreath are visible falling behind the neck. The encircling legend reads IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR P II COS III P P in raised Latin capitals, distributed evenly around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is executed in high relief, consistent with the fine die-cutting quality associated with the Rome Mint under Nerva. |
