| Reverse description | The goddess Roma seated left upon a cuirass and shields, rendered as a helmeted, semi-draped figure in a dynamic, energetic pose. She holds a long spear or parazonium in her extended left hand and a small figure of Victory in her right hand, who faces left and holds a wreath. A round shield rests at her side and additional arms are scattered beneath her feet. The senatorial authorization monogram S C (Senatus Consultum) is divided across the field to left and right of the central figure. The word ROMA appears in the exergue below a ground line, identifying the deity and the mint city. The composition reflects the standard Neronian reverse type celebrating the enduring martial prestige of the city of Rome. |
