| Obverse description | Bare-necked, laureate bust of Nero facing right, rendered with characteristic youthful fleshy features including a rounded jaw and prominent neck. The emperor's hair is arranged in the Julio-Claudian fashion with tightly curled locks across the brow and falling in waves behind the ear. The portrait is executed in high relief typical of early Neronian bronze coinage. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. |
