| Reverse description | A frontal view of the Janus Geminus temple, depicted as a rectangular shrine with a tiled or pitched roof and an arched entrance. To the right, a latticed window is clearly visible, while to the left the double doors of the temple are shown closed, with a festive garland draped across them, symbolising the rare closure of the temple gates in time of peace. The monumental architectural rendering fills the reverse field, with the large senatorial authorisation mark S C (Senatus Consultum) placed prominently in the exergue or field. The encircling legend records Nero's celebrated proclamation of peace across land and sea. |
