| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Nero facing left, with characteristic thick neck and youthful features rendered in the Julio-Claudian portrait style, draped at the shoulder. The emperor's hair is arranged in the distinctive Neronian fashion with short curls across the forehead and longer locks falling at the nape. The encircling Latin legend runs continuously around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is boldly struck in high relief, occupying the majority of the obverse field. |
