Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Nero facing right, with a small globe at the base of the neck truncation, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair and pronounced facial features characteristic of Neronian portraiture. The imperial effigy is boldly modeled, displaying the emperor's characteristic heavy jaw and youthful idealization. The circular Latin legend runs along the periphery of the obverse field. The overall style reflects the accomplished die-cutting of the Roman imperial workshops during Nero's reign.

Reverse description Nero depicted bare-headed and cuirassed, riding a prancing horse to the right, his military cloak (paludamentum) billowing dramatically behind him as he holds a spear in his right hand. Behind and to the right of the emperor, a mounted soldier rides in the same direction, bearing a vexillum (military standard) over his shoulder. The composition commemorates the decursio, a formal Roman military cavalry exercise or parade performed at imperial funerals and public ceremonies. The reverse legend and senatorial authority mark (S C) appear in the field, the latter signifying the coin was issued under the authority of the Roman Senate. The scene is rendered with dynamic energy, emphasizing Nero's role as military commander.
