Obverse description Laureate bust of Nero facing right, with a small globe at the point of truncation, rendered in the idealized Julio-Claudian portrait style with full, softly modeled features and layered hair. The emperor's effigy is depicted with bare neck and a fleshy, youthful countenance characteristic of his later portraiture. The surrounding legend runs clockwise along the outer rim of the coin. The die work exhibits bold, high-relief engraving typical of the Rome mint under Nero's reign.
