| Obverse description | Laureate head of Nero facing right, with a small globe at the base of the neck truncation, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and facial features characteristic of Neronian portraiture. The emperor's effigy displays a fleshy, youthful countenance with curled hair arranged in the fashion typical of his later coinage. The circular legend runs clockwise around the portrait, occupying the outer field. The overall style reflects the accomplished die-cutting of the Rome mint workshops during the mid-first century AD. |
