Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of King Kotys II facing right, with long flowing hair rendered in fine striated detail, the diadem clearly visible at the brow. A trident appears in the field before the bust on certain specimens. The effigy is enclosed by a beaded border, with the royal Greek legend disposed around the periphery in large, well-spaced characters. The portraiture reflects a Hellenistic artistic tradition adapted to local Bosporan coinage.
