| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in bold high relief with a characteristic short beard, conveying the emperor's mature, philosophical persona. The effigy displays fine engraving of the paludamentum over the cuirass, typical of Hadrianic portraiture at this late stage of his reign. The surrounding legend reads HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The coin exhibits an attractive deep green patina consistent with long burial. The irregular flan, characteristic of hand-struck Roman bronze coinage, gives the piece its typical ancient character. |
