| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Hadrian facing right, the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder with drapery folds rendered in high relief. The emperor's mature effigy is depicted with characteristic short beard and classicizing portraiture. The circular Latin legend runs along the outer border, framing the imperial portrait. The flan shows the characteristic irregular outline typical of hammered orichalcum sestertii of the Antonine period. |
