Obverse description Bare-headed, draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered with characteristic short curly hair and cropped beard, the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and visible across the truncation. The portrait is modeled in high relief with fine detail to the facial features and coiffure. The encircling Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The die engraving reflects the accomplished workshops of the Roman imperial mint at Rome.
