| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped bust of Hadrian facing left, viewed from the rear, with finely rendered curly hair and a full beard rendered in detailed relief — hallmarks of the Hadrianic portraiture style. The emperor wears a paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, visible at the lower right of the bust. The encircling Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, distributed around the periphery of the flan within a beaded border. The portrait is executed with the high sculptural quality characteristic of the Rome mint under Hadrian, capturing his well-known Hellenic aesthetic sensibility. |
