| Reverse description | The personification of Pietas stands in three-quarter view facing left, draped in a stola and palla, holding a patera in her right hand extended over a lit altar placed before her, and cradling an acerra (incense box) in her left arm. The figure is rendered in the classicising style typical of Hadrianic reverse types, conveying solemnity and religious devotion. The large senatorial authorisation letters S C (Senatus Consultum) flank the central figure in the field to left and right respectively. The encircling legend PIETAS AVGVSTI is distributed across the upper periphery within a beaded border. |
