Reverse description The personification of Virtus (martial valour) stands facing left in the field, helmeted and clad in military dress with drapery falling over the lower body. She rests her right foot on a helmet and holds a parazonium (short sword) in her lowered left hand, while her raised right arm extends a spear or parazonium toward the upper left. A long vertical spear or hasta is visible behind her figure. The legend P M TR P COS III is distributed around the upper and outer periphery, with VIRT AVG flanking the figure in the mid-field and the senatorial authority mark S C positioned prominently in the lower field to either side of the figure, all within a beaded border.
